I don’t want to start this blog post on a sad note, so let me divulge the good part of the gist first. I invited a friend for dinner after seeing the “Now Open” Instagram post of 355 Steak House and Lounge, located at 65 Osun Crescent, off IBB Way, Maitama, Abuja. I went with high expectations, since I had read pretty decent reviews from the comments on their Instagram pictures.
Plus, I have been craving Mexican food for a while. On getting there, I was very impressed with the ambiance, the interior decor is truly fine dining style, no doubt. I couldn’t wait to eat so I immediately made my order of Strawberry Daiquiri (N1,200.00) and Tacos (N3,200.00). My friend ordered Chicken Fajitas with Prawn (N5,300) and Pina Colada (N1,200.00). For our starter, we ordered Garlic Bread (N1,000.00).
Let me start from the Fajitas which wasn’t bad at all, except that the 3 pieces of tortilla was the thinnest and smallest I’ve ever seen…the Chicken and prawns tasted alright, we had extra guacamole and cream at no additional cost, which was nice. But my tacos was not what I envisioned. When I was craving tacos, I expected this
but got this instead
Apart from how it should look, it tasted delicious but I was not satisfied because the portion was small or because I had not eaten all day, I’m not sure which one. As for the garlic bread, we were expecting this
But got this
I just have one question. BUT WHY??
I want to believe that the size of the portions are due to the “fine dining plating” and the fact that it’s actually a steak house and so their Mexican Menu is lagging… but the garlic bread is unforgivable…. It’s simple, stick to what you have instead of offering what you don’t have.
Now I don’t know if I should try their steak, I wonder if it would make up for this experience.
The best part of the dinner was the Fajitas. Here’s what it looked like
Ambiance : 5/5
