Hey guys! I know its been long since I dropped a post on here…I just got back from a well deserved vacation in Paris!….Psych! The truth is that work just took over that’s all, but expect more post going forward…
Anyway, I have gist for you guys, there’s a new cool joint/hangout spot in town, with good food, good music and good booze of course…well, I was invited to cover the opening of this new joint in town called Nene’s Kitchen and Bar, located at 7 Oladipo Diya Road, Gudu, Abuja, near Cedacrest Hospital.
Hmm where shall I begin? The story of Mama Oyo’s Amala has been told all over town….you hear it in office gossip, you hear it in friends gossip and even family gossip…ah the story is being told on the mountains and in the seas! But no matter how much the story has been told, it has always ended with a question that has not been answered. Many fear to ask, others who do, do so in their tight circles, afraid to speak out. The question is “Why are we all addicted to Mama Oyo’s Amala? So being a foodie extraordinaire, I ventured to find the answer to that question on your behalf. Aren’t I nice?…Read more after the cut…
How else to do you kick off a long awaited long weekend after a long week? I will tell you…I called my friend to find out if she was up for a hangout, she suggested we go to a joint called Area 12. She heard that they sell the best gizzard! And I must say she didn’t tell a lie.
The night before was mad fun with my “Never A Dull Moment” friends. As we woke up from our slumber the next day, food was definitely the first thing on our minds…thank God in the kitchen were ingredients to make Egusi Soup and Semolina…in basic terms, soup and swallow….
The Boli is Mine…Yea I said it…Im not ashamed of my boli and the buka that I buy it from, which is located behind Otis Carpet Plaza, Wuse 2, Abuja. Just take a look at this boli, with roasted fish tail and kpomo…and tell me if you won’t drag this boli with me like Brandy and Monica (The boy is mine) lol…
Happy Easter! I’m sure you guys might be wondering what I had for Easter..well, by now most of you, after reading my blogs, must have concluded that I am a lazy cook and that I probably ate out on Easter day as usual…well you are total wrrrright. On Saturday, my mum knowing her daughter very well had to prepare my mindset for the Sunday banquet she had hoped that I would prepare, she goes “So Miriam sweetie, what are you cooking tomorrow, for Easter?” My reply “Lets wait and see, shall we?” ….
Oh mamamia! Steak!!! Its been a while since I had a goooood steak. But my good friend Mr Niyi (Animation enthusiast, Founder and C.E.O of Anthill Studios) came to the rescue. The scene of the gastronomic experience is Blucabana at Mabushi District, Abuja. Oh boy, lets start with the ambiance..superb. I felt like I had just arrived some vacation heaven in the middle of nowhere.
Today, I decided to treat my girlfriend to a special time. Thought of going to the movies but she was apprehensive of public places and being blown to smithereens by the fanatical supporters of aggrieved politicians (owing to the tensions from the Presidential election). So I immediately recalled a blog on here by Miss TnS of a love nest called Paris Choice replete with a wonderful ambience, swinging chairs, tasty chicken noodles and orgasms in a cup (read blog here). So I looked up my GPS and Google maps and to Paris we drove, with all the anticipation and excitement I could muster (as per guy wey wan trip babe).
And his last name is Rockets. Johnny Rockets located at Wuse 2, Abuja makes the meanest hamburgers. My friends first sampled their burgers and they had enough testimonies. So I decided to sample it for myself…my initiation burger was “The Route 66” Hamburger. Details: This burger is named after the iconic, carefree, American Highway. It contains swiss cheese, grilled mushrooms, grilled onions & mayonnaise….yummy!
